Home Insulation Grants: Everything You Need To Know

    What Are The Benefits?

Fully funded under the ECO4 scheme:
Insulation material and labour costs can be fully paid from the funding for cavity wall insulation grants, therefore, saving you money.

Save Money on Your Heating Costs:
An insulated home loses about a third of its heat through the walls. Properly insulated cavity walls through an approved installer will save you energy and cut your heating costs.

    Warmer Home:
The no-cost insulation grant will limit the heat lost by having the cavity filled allowing the building to retain heat longer.

    Home Value Increase:
Having your cavity walls insulated or having solid wall insulation along with loft insulation will increase the value of your property.

What is Cavity Wall Insulation (CWI)?

A cavity wall is two layers of brick with a cavity between them. Cavity wall insulation is the process of inserting insulation into a small space between them.

Depending on the type of cavity, different materials can be used for the insulation, such as foam, bead, or mineral wool.

We will send a surveyor to determine whether your property is suitable for cavity insulation and which one will be most appropriate.

Most homes built with a cavity wall between 1924 and 1982 are likely not filled with any cavity wall insulation. With insulation grants, it is possible to get cavity wall insulation entirely at no cost to you!

The Energy Saving Trust supports the ECO scheme as being beneficial to the environment. The no-cost home insulation grant is provided by energy companies because of the government’s commitment to improving the UK’s carbon emissions.

Energy suppliers can provide loft and cavity wall insulation worth thousands of pounds combined to follow these government obligations. They have to make U.K. houses more energy efficient and tackle fuel poverty, especially for low-income households and vulnerable people. By not reaching the targets set out by the government, energy suppliers will face hefty fines.

    Different Types of insulation available:

    • Shredded mineral wool
    • Glass fibre
    • or Polystyrene beads,
Is My Home Suitable For Cavity Wall Insulation?

There is a chance that free cavity wall insulation won’t be suitable for your home, but here’s how you can tell if your home is suitable:

    • The external walls are unfilled cavity walls.
    • It has at least a 5cm wide cavity.
    • It was built before 1982 and in some cases 2005.
    • Your home is capable of energy efficiency in the long run.
    • Your property’s brickwork, outer wall or masonry is in good condition.
    • There is little risk of your house flooding.
    • The walls are not exposed to too much driving rain or extreme weather.

It is still possible to have it installed even if adjoining properties don’t.

Building regulations changed after 1982 when insulation was required to be fitted on any houses built from that point, but some of them weren’t.

    What is the ECO scheme?

You may have heard of the ECO grant initiated by the UK government. It is otherwise known as the ECO4 and is supported by the Energy Saving Trust.

This scheme has been through means-testing to ensure it can deliver on improving homes’ energy efficiency for those living in the UK.

The fund allows individuals (homeowners and private tenants) with qualifying benefits to access a range of heating support: from insulating properties through electric storage heaters replacement to new boilers installation to improve heating systems for a better-insulated property and to lower the energy bills.

Loft insulation grants that we offer are of no cost to you if you qualify for the ECO scheme.

If you are a private landlord, speak to your tenant – if they qualify for the grant, you can encourage them to apply and have your property’s energy efficiency improved for many years to come.

Licensed installers; such as our team, provide the labour for various insulations as they are paid from the grant, so you don’t have to spend a penny provided that you meet the required criteria!

In the long term, the government aims to have the Energy Company Obligations scheme bring down the UK’s carbon emissions and improve environmental impact

Are Loft Insulation Grants Still Available In The U.K?

Insulation grants are available in the UK for the foreseeable future thanks to the ECO4 scheme. The insulation grant for lofts is aimed at homeowners or private tenants who claim benefits or tax credits, especially if they do not have access to a mains gas supply.

To tackle fuel poverty, the UK government has initiated varieties of grants including loft insulation grants accessible in England, Scotland and Wales through energy companies.

According to the government, the use of high-quality loft insulation will lower the UK’s dependency on inefficient heating systems over time and help in saving energy.

The April 2022 applications for loft insulation grants are now open.

What Is The Loft Insulation Grant?

Did you know that a third of the heating in a property may be lost with insufficient insulating material?

Government grants for loft insulation can stop this from happening and help you save money.

In the U.K. it is possible to get a loft insulation grant via government funding in order to improve a property’s energy efficiency.

Government initiated grants are there to help individuals and families with lower income focus entirely on increasing the energy-saving capabilities of their homes. Loft insulation will save you anywhere from £120 to £280 a year on your energy bills.

We know that it can be difficult to understand the different criteria that govern applications for grants such as insulation grants, that’s where we come in we will guide you through the process and complete the paperwork on your behalf.
